*Hirsutism..too much Hair*

Hair here hair there, hair everywhere. Hair on my toes hair on my nose, hair where nobody knows. Hair on my chin , it's hair that isn't the size of a pin. Hair on my cheeks hair between the sheets. I have hair on my belly hair on my back, hair in my elbow crack. I dont know why i have this hair, it just doesnt seem fair...and is very unclear..it makes my eyes tear. Ladies this is called hirsutism..and its one of the lovely symptoms of pcos! Not...

Hirsutism is a common symptom and very distressing for all women. It is in the same catergory with hair loss however, instead of loss..tooo much. It usually occurs in women producing excessive amounts of androgens which are male hormones like testosterone. There are certain ways to help or prevent this symptom of pcos. The first one I want to throw out there is weight loss. Yes, I may sound like your doctor but it really does help relieve our symptoms. When you lose weight and notice your periods are more regular you will see a reduction in the symptom or it may even dissappear. With weight loss you can decrease the amount of androgens which will reduce hair.  When the doctor told me to lose weight I did not think that would solve my problem however it has helped me tremendously. Yes, it is hard but well worth it.

Two huge medications I could suggest are spirnolactone, and saw palmetto. One is prescribed the other one you can pick up at a health food store. Spirnolactone prevents testosterone produced by our bodies. It is an antiandrogen.  I currently take 200mg a day. The key to this medication because it is also a diuretic is to keep yourself completely hydrated and you can do this just from water. Saw palmetto is store boughten I take 1 pill a day and never go over 320 mgs. Due to the fact DHT is made from testosteron and causes hirsutism saw palmetto prevents DHT. DHT comes from an eynzme in our bodies called 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme is prevented with the use of Saw Palmetto. You may have heard Saw Palmetto is used for men with prostate cancer, and it is but is also a great treatment for women with male pattern baldness, and HIRSUTISM. Women with pcos have much more chance of 5-alpha-reductase enzymes than those who do not so we are at a higher risk for hirsutism. Saw Palmetto reduces DHT in 3 ways...Prevents DHT productions, prevents DHT from binding to its cell receptors, and promotes the breakdown of DHT. If you want to go one step further you could use Saw Palmetto with stinging nettle root, and pygeum for your treatment. I use Spirnolactone, and Saw Palmetoo together because I believe one compliments the other for me.

Saw Palmetto is cheaper than any medications, and is freee of side effects!!

It may take up to six months to see improvement with treatments because hair follicles have a cyles of 6 months.

Oral Contreceptives also help us with a symptom such as this because it helps regulate our menstral cycles and hormones. I just got a prescribtion of Diana 35 that I am waiting for my next cycle to start, and right now I am using alessa.

Time for that unwantedness to Disappear!..Cysters you can do it.

Foods that may help:
  • Cinnamon
  • Green tea
  • Licorice Root
  • Lettuce
  • Spearmint
I mix cinnamon in with my cup of green tea on a regular basis, you can also add it to cooking anything really. Cereal..meat..veggies.Just throw some in.

Just a reminder Ladies I love your suggestions for blogs, and feedback. Never feel alone I enjoy talking :) Court.

    1. I found an absloute answer to unwanted hair..no not laser hair removal..its and herbal cream that is 100% natural and a herbalist crated it! I took me about 2months to be completely hair free. I struggled with hair on my chis and it grew daily ..shaved in the morning and by 1pm i had peach fuzz! No more all gone and my skin is as smooth as a baby bottom. Best of all there are no side effects and its safe enough for babies! I paid $75 for the cream and protocol and it was way cheaper than the $1200 I spent for laser hair removal that didnt work!

  2. I took spironolactone for over a year and had no noticeable results. Right now I'm trying vaniqua but no luck yet. I've done laser hair removal and that didn't last long.
As far as losing weight goes (easier said than done...) but I've lost 50 lbs and had no noticable reduction...:(

  4. My mom was prescribed Metformin and it caused a strange side effect - "hair fall". She lost almost 70% of her head hair and then the doctor told it was because of metformin. Although, she did experience body hair reduction but still even after stopping metformin she could not gain back her lost hair (from head).

  10. Hi!!

I thought that Saw Palmetto was free of side effects at first but when I increased my dosage from 320mg to 640mg, I began to experience vaginal bleeding which WASN'T my period. I immediately stopped the tablet and the bleeding continued for about a week before ceasing. I would just be careful using Saw Palmetto as it did cause internal bleeding which wasn't a period!
